The victims of the My Lai Massacre were women, children, men, and infants. Some of the women were gang-raped and their bodies were slaughtered.
Several American soldiers who have been in My Lai during the massacre accepted personal responsibility for the loss of civilian lives. Some of them expressed regrets without any personal guilt, One soldier had said: "I have regrets for it, but I have no guilt over it because I didn't cause it. That's not what the military, particularly the United States Army, is trained for." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Lai_Massacre
